A Chinese national was arrested in Bangkok after raids carried out by the Department of Special Investigations took into evidence over 200,000 pairs of knockoff sunglasses sporting a variety of branded names.

The DSI carried out raids on three warehouses in Khlong Thom and Klong San after officials discovered that a large amount of untaxed sunglasses had been illegally brought into the kingdom and were allegedly being stored at the locations.

Officers were granted a search warrant from the Intellectual Property and International Trade Court and during the course of the raids discovered approximately 210,000 pair of counterfeit eyewear including names such as Ray-Ban, Burberry and other high end designer brands.

Police have charged the Chinese man, whose name has not been released with violating the Trademark Act and Customs Act’s while investigations continue to see if he entered the kingdom legally.
