It was announced today by the Director-General of the Department of Business Development that the number of new businesses registered here in the kingdom throughout 2017 reached a new record high of 74,517, with the rise being attributed to the governments business promotion campaigns and improvements to the nation’s infrastructure.
The Director-General Kunlani Itdisai stated that 6,305 new businesses registered with the government in December alone last year which was an increase of 43 percent compared to the same period from the year before.
The most registered type of business was real estate companies followed by gold shops then construction companies.
The total number of new businesses registered in 2017 increased by 16 percent compared to the same period from the year before, the number of new businesses registered surpassed the government’s estimate of 70,000 business registrations.
The government is estimating that around 75,000 businesses will be registered with the government over the course of this year again the majority of which will be real estate and construction based firms as a result of the governments continuing investment in improving the kingdoms infrastructure and investment in the EEC.
