Cazes was facing a whole host of charges including identity theft, money laundering narcotics distribution among many others.

Referred to online as “DeSnake” Cazes, operated primarily out of Thailand to facilitate the sale of illegal goods, ranging from hacking programmes to narcotics and weaponry.

His arrest was the result of a multi-national operation involving authorities from six countries and included the FBI, Dutch National Police and the Royal Thai Police.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions stated that AlphaBay was “the largest dark net marketplace in history.”
