A press conference was held by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department to announce the widespread damage flooding has caused across 10 southern provinces since the start of last week.

According to the departments director-general Chayapol Thitisak more than 805,000 people from 256,447 families were affected by the severe flooding.

Although flood waters have begun to recede there are still 4,289 villages under water across nine provinces.

Chayapol said his department are coordination with local authorities and the military to provide aid and support people in affected areas.

Affected provinces include Pattani, Yala, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Thitisak among others.
