The Economic Crime Suppression Division in Thailand have reportedly confiscated over 28 million baht in counterfeit goods over a nine month period.

They also arrested more than 300 people in connection with illicit pirated merchandise.

Much of the counterfeit material was software, music and film related on CD and DVDs, although items of clothing etc. were also amongst the stash.

The items were generally sold on line via social media apps.

Warnings were issued regarding low quality items that were being sold, often much cheaper than the genuine articles.

Twenty-Eight Million Baht In Pirated Goods Seized In Nine Months

Much of the pirated software such as Windows 10, was said to be riddled with malware.

A study also revealed that 90% of computers in Thailand are infected with viruses due to users purchasing pirate copies of software and games.
