The Ministry of Transport stated that they plan to go ahead with the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) investing over 300 billion baht on infrastructure development projects throughout next year.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said that they have assigned a total investment amount of 309.6 billion baht to improve the regions infrastructure which includes improvements to roads, railway, water and air links.

They said that a total of 103 projects to boost the development of the EEC had been planned at a cost of 745.71 billion baht which will be carried out between 2017 to 2021.

Among the planned projects is a renovation of the U- Tapao airport to improve the airport for international passengers as well as constructing an aircraft maintenance centre there.
