Tourist Police Bureau deputy commissioner Pol Maj Gen Surachate Hakparn reports a total of 64 people, i.e. foreign nationals and one Thai have been arrested on Friday, after a coordinated raid took place.
These arrests were on different grounds. Five of the suspects (from Laos, India, Vietnam, Russia and Myanmar) for overstaying their visas, 51 (30 from Myanmar, 10 from Cambodia, 8 from Laos, and one each from India, Vietnam and Sierra Leone) for illegal entry, 8 remaining (two from Nigeria, two from India, one each from China, Myanmar, Ghana and Thailand) were for other offences.
The raids that targeted seven international schools, 15 language schools, 45 secondary schools and 58 other places were the 10th phase of operation X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner.
