77-year-old Frenchman killed in road accident in Chan-am

A 77-year-old Frenchman was killed after his rented motorbike collided with a white Nissan Almera which subsequently ran over and trapped the deceased underneath the car yesterday in the Cha-am district of Phetchaburi.

The victim was identified as Joseph Urbansky who was pulled from underneath the white Nissan by rescue workers but pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that the accident happened around 11:30 am.

The driver of the Nissan, Siridet Rithplaeng told investigating officers that he was driving along the Klong Thien Road when the motorcycle cut in front of him leaving him no time to brake and he collided with the bike before coming off of the road.

Police said that the victim and his wife were staying in the Methavalai hotel and were due to leave on Saturday.

No mention was made if the driver of the Nissan was charged as a result of the incident.
