Alcohol ban at national parks to be strictly enforced, warning made yesterday

A very serious warning was issued by the director-general of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation yesterday.

Which stated tourists will be punished with prison time and hefty fines if they are caught bringing alcohol into national parks.

According to the director-general, Thanya Netithammakun those who violate the rule could be punished with up to one month in prison and or a fine of 1,000 baht, all park officials have since been notified to strictly inforce the rule.

He added that anyone found drinking alcohol while inside of national parks will be immediately removed.

Banners sporting the slogan “National parks are alcohol-free zones” will be placed in parks all across the kingdom.

Tourists are being asked to alert officials if they witness anyone drinking alcohol inside of the parks by calling 1362.
