Four people have been taken into custody on suspicion of assisting tourists capture freshwater stingrays in Samut Songkhram, west of Bangkok.
Current legislation prohibits the catching of these rare fish, with the only exception being, if it is for research purposes.
The arrests followed Facebook Live postings featuring the foreigners with the rays.
Investigations revealed that the four men had not registered the boat with the Marine Department, nor did they have a valid licence to drive the boat and they were in possession of illegal fishing equipment. To exacerbate matters for the accused, their urine tests revealed traces or amphetamine.
A bad day at the office all round for these chaps.
