The Action on Smoking and Health Foundation (ASH Thailand) said that electronic cigarettes are dangerous to a person’s health despite what many claim.
ASH executive secretary Dr Prakit Vathesatogkit issued a warning of the dangers electronic cigarettes pose despite what vaping advocates claim.
An advocate of vaping Maris Karunyawat took to Facebook to tell the public that lab tests proved that e-cigarettes were 95% safer than traditional cigarettes.
Dr Prakit rebuked the claims stating that the tests claimed by vaping advocates were untrue and the results were not accepted by scientists, especially in America.
He said although vaping does not produce any smoke the vapour produced is harmful to lung tissue and blood vessels. Not only is it harmful he said it also leads people to smoking traditional cigarettes.
The Department of Disease Control also confirmed that e-cigarette vapour is dangerous to a person’s health. They said that the vapour contains over 250 harmful chemicals of which 70 are carcinogenic.
The department said that a claim that vaping is safer than traditional cigarette smoking is just an assessment from experts with no certified source.
