The Thailand tourism industry is stepping up plans to increase the number of Indian tourists coming to the country and plans to use Bollywood stars to attract them
Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul the Thailand Tourism Minister said Sunday that the ministry is planning on hiring Bollywood stars to promote tourist attractions throughout the kingdom in an attempt to attract wealthy tourists from India.
The announcement follows the opening of a new route between from Tiruchirappalli to Bangkok provided by AirAsia, providing an additional 20,000 seats per week to bring in travellers from southern India.
The tourism ministry expects to increase the number of Indian travellers from 1.2 million to 2 million tourists per year over the next three years.
