For the second year in a row Bangkok has won the title of the most-visited city in the world according to the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index.
The governor of Bangkok, Asawin Kwanmuang was presented with a plaque by Mastercard’s country manager for Thailand, Donald Ong, at the city hall in Bangkok.
The index ranked Bangkok as the most visited city where a total of 19.41 million people visited Thailand’s capital with London, UK, coming in second place.
The ranking covered 132 top cities from around the world.
Governor Asawin stated that he will continue to push forward and help the kingdom retain the title again next year for a third time by insuring tourist’s safety.
He asked the Thai people not to take advantage of visiting tourists stating that he had been coordinating with both the Metropolitan Police and Tourist Police in an effort to ensure their safety while in the capital.
