A 61-year-old British man died on an air-conditioned bus traveling to Phetchabun from Bangkok last night with a Thai passenger sitting beside his body for hours without realizing what had happened.

The body of Michael Richarddeen was discovered once the bus stopped at a parking spot in Lop Buri at 7:30pm.

According to the bus hostess the man was sitting in his seat as if he was asleep and it was only when she attempted to wake him when the bus stopped to allow people off to get their evening meal she realized he was dead.

A doctor was called who stated that the man had been dead for over one hour.

Once the man was identified police contacted his Thai wife who informed them that he was in poor health and was traveling to her home in Phetchabun’s Wichien Buri district.

A Thai passenger spoke to police saying he was sitting next to the deceased and noticed him shake when the bus got to Saraburi but assumed the man was having a nightmare in his sleep.

Once the bus reached the mid-way stop point he changed to another seat as several people had departed the bus.

No official cause of death has been made public as of yet.
