Chiang Mai Airport has announced a new route, which sees Xishuangbanna in South West China connected to the Thai city. Xishuangbanna borders Myanmar and Laos and offers short trips to Thailand’s northern city from April 4th.
The Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, Krit Thanavanic welcomed the new route, which connects the city to Jinghong Airport with Ruili Airlines providing the service.
The new route is part of Ruili Airlines expansion plans, which takes advantage of increased tourist activity between China and Thailand.
Flight DR 5359 will operate between the two locations on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as a 144 seater plane takes to the skies for the short flight. It will arrive in Chiang Mai at 18:00 and depart again at 20:00.
The new route will help with tourism, trade, business and education claimed the deputy governor.
