A Chinese tourist was injured Tueday (September 19) after falling from a Parasail ride at Patong Beach.
Zhao Jianying, 62, sustained injuries to his hip in the fall, Patong lifeguards administered first aid at the scene before rushing Mr Jianying to Patong Hospital.
An X-ray at the hospital revealed nothing was broken in the fall and the parasailing operators took full responsibility for the hospital bill.
A Patong lifeguard told the reporters that they received a report from the parasail operator that a tourist had been injured after weather conditions caused the parasail to drift into tree’s resulting in the tourists falling 4-5 metres after the parachute collapsed in on itself.
In July a 70-year-old Australian tourist died after falling from a parasail ride at Kata Beach also in Phuket, which resulted in a temporary ban and a review of parasail practices.
Time will only tell if this latest incident will prompt further actions towards parasail operators.
