More Chinese Tourists

Could we see more Chinese tourist in Pattaya? According to The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) this is a likely scenario.

The TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn has suggested that by promoting Thailand’s “unique” tourism attractions and products, the Kingdom could see an influx of visitors that would usually holiday in South Korea or Japan.

This plus the recent aggression from North Korea and missile defence systems being deployed by the south, could sway Chinese tourists to switch their holiday destinations away from South Korea to Thailand.

With a population of approximately 9.4 million people, accounting for 14% of Thailand as of 2012, the Thai-Chinese have been deeply ingrained into all elements of Thai society for the past 400 years.

Additionally TAT believe that Thailand’s excellent relationship with the Chinese, a variety of tourist attractions and Thai cuisine, could all be advantageous when attracting Chinese holidaymakers.

The latest figures show an increase in visitors from Africa, India and Europe in the last twelve months.

Let’s hope that the tourist market in Pattaya increases for the benefit of local businesses.
