An immigration official was forced to admit that the new electronic gates for use by Thai passengers at Suvarnabhumi were unusable after complaints began to circulate online.
Responding to the reports on social media the spokesman said that the gates had been out of order and there was just two desks manned to process incoming Thai travellers.
However the spokesman said it was not the new machines that were to blame, passing the buck onto the company responsible for sending the signal to the machines that reads peoples passports saying there was an issue with their server.
He said everything was back to how it should be yesterday morning following the glitch.
But many Thai citizens were not pleased with their extended waiting times when arriving according to social media.
