It looks like traffic in the Lat Phrao area of Bangkok famed for its notoriously bad traffic is set to get worse before it gets better as construction is set to begin today to make the area accessible via use of the MRT (monorail).
Work begins today to remove utility poles and power lines in preparation for the construction of the Yellow Line.
Officials said that from today the one lane will be closed on the inbound road of the Lat Phrao road stretching from Soi 136 to 128 and then from Soi 45/1 to Soi 23 meaning there will only be two lanes in operation and people should allow extra time for their journeys should they need to use that road.
Additional lane closures are expected to take place between the hours of 10pm and 4am.
The new yellow line monorail is expected to be open and in service by 2021 which will start from the Ratchada-Lat Phrao crossroads and meet up with the blue line at Lat Phrao station.
The new section of track will stretch for a little over 30 kilometres and include 23 stations.
This once complete is expected to drastically improve the traffic in the Lat Phrao area of the capital.
