Eating whilst driving or applying make-up gets the ok from one of Bangkok’s top traffic officers.
The comments come after reports surfaced online women who were caught putting on make-up behind the wheel could be jailed for up to a month.
Jiraphat Phoomjit, deputy director to traffic said in a television interview “applying make-up and eating while driving quite alright.” However he did clarify that drivers should wait until it was safe to do so.
If however you undertake one of these activities while driving and cause an accident it could come under the category of negligence.
He advised people to find a safe spot to make ones face up such as a red light or being stuck in a traffic jam.
Jiraphat said that these activities have not been banned unlike the use of mobile phones while driving.
He also stated that the speculation that women were being fined 2,000 baht or being jailed is untrue.
So if you are out and about in the car just make sure you are in a safe spot before powdering your nose or having a quick bite to eat.
