It seems one couple in Bangkok really wanted to be the first people registered as married on Valentine’s Day arriving at the central post office building in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district at 11pm last night (February 13.)
It seems that they weren’t the only ones who thought they could get a jump on the queue with reports that the ground in front of the building was already crowded by 4am.
As of 7am this morning there was over 200 couples waiting in line.
Apparently the Bang Rak office is an extremely popular place to register marriages on Valentine’s Day as the name translates to “the district of love.”
Speaking to reporters Sukanya Khamdee, 30 and her boyfriend arrived at 11pm on Tuesday in an effort to be the first couple registered as married on the special day.
According to the Bang Rak district chief Phakkaporn Sa-nguansak officials intend to register 10 couples at a time with registration beginning at 7:30am running until 4pm.
