Dan Robinson, 39, a diving instructor from the UK now living in Thailand is on life support in a Thai hospital after suffering from a stroke in his sleep.
Dan who lives in Ko Tao was taken ill last Wednesday which was exactly one year to the day since he married his wife Jurait.
Once his family heard the news his dad Stephen and his brother Matthew flew out to be by his side.
Dan’s stepmother Judith remained in Huddersfield, she said that surgeons have had to perform an emergency operation on Dan as a result of the stroke and he remains on life support.
She said the family are touched by the numerous messages of kindness and support they have received from all over the world.
Mrs Robinson said that Dan’s medical insurance had now reached its limit and they were now facing hospital bills of roughly £1,000 (43,500 baht) per day.
