A rescue swimmer holds onto migrants frantically trying to stay afloat after falling off their rubber dinghy during a rescue operation by the Malta-based NGO Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) ship in the central Mediterranean in international waters some 15 nautical miles off the coast of Zawiya in Libya, April 14, 2017.

The Mediterranean Sea was again the location for dramatic scenes as 2000 plus migrants attempted to reach the shores of Europe.

At least one person died as the migrants from the north of Africa made desperate attempts to reach the coastline of European nations.

Passing ships and coastguard operations plucked over two thousand people from rubber dinghies and small wooden boats.

Rescue workers were captured on film, jumping in the sea, close to the shores of Libya to save people.

It is believed that over 32,000 migrants have made their way to Europe via the Mediterranean so far this year with close to 700 dead or missing.
