Thailand’s Zoological Park Organisation stated yesterday that the relocation of Bangkok’s Dusit Zoo still requires further study.
Benjapol Nakprasert, Director-General of the Zoological Park Organisation said that plans to move Dusit Zoo are currently at the stage of designing the actual zoo ready for construction to begin at the new site.
The Director-General said that the new location for the zoo will be on a 300-rai plot in the Pathum Thani province.
He noted that designing the new zoo is will take architects several years to complete.
When asked about the animals and moving to a new location he said a study would be completed to ascertain which animals should be moved to the new site and which should be relocated to one of the seven other zoo’s here in Thailand under the care of the Zoological Park Organisation.
He assured those in attendance yesterday that the Dusit Zoo remains open to the public as normal for the time being.
