Winter in Thailand though not as severe as in some countries across the world can still be deadly and this year’s recent cold snap has reportedly claimed its first victim, 69-year-old Ubol Yingmeedee, who was found dead this morning.
Officials have stated that the cause of death was hypothermia.
Pol. Capt. Ekkachai Duangket from Surin’s Prasat police force stated that officers were notified of the woman’s death early this morning and she was found under multiple blankets in her bed in the Prasat district.
He said that officers found no evidence of injury or anyone being present at the time of death.
It was reported that the temperatures dropped to 16 degrees Celsius last night in Surin.
