An elephant was badly hurt when a pick-up hit the large pachyderm inside of a wildlife sanctuary in the Chachoengsao province yesterday afternoon.
Videos surfaced online showing the elephant struggling to walk following the collision, the elephant can be seen dragging its hind legs as it attempts to leave the area.
The driver of the pick-up was not named but he told authorities ones they arrived that he was not able to stop in time and collided with the elephant, the pick-up was severely damaged so the collision must have happened at quite some speed, the driver escaped the incident without injury.
Relevant authorities were alerted of the accident and efforts to track down the injured elephant are now underway.
Many commented angrily online stating that this should serve as an example of why motorists should drive slowly in national parks.
