A Facebook post reporting of an explosion in the AOB building of Suvarnabhumi airport resulted in sirens going off and a staff evacuation.
The AOB building contains airport authority offices. As it turns out there was no explosion just a power outage that lasted roughly 20 minutes.
Fire crews were called but no one was hurt.
The electrical outage was apparently caused by a damaged transformer. Media reported Chutrakoon Yorsamadee the airports authority representative said he wasn’t aware of any problem. Shortly after they admitted that a breaker had been tripped resulting in a system reboot.
The power issues come just a few days after EGAT chief had claimed that power outages in Bangkok were now a thing of the past.
