Following an announcement earlier this week from the Thai government that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg would be coming to Thailand to meet the Prime Minister,
Facebook have released a statement stating that this would not be the case on Wednesday.
After just two days since the announcement over the alleged meeting Facebook Thailand spokesperson told Khaosod English that no such meeting was planned.
The brief statement said “There are no plans currently for any senior leaders to visit Thailand.”
The meeting between the Facebook founder and Thai PM was announced on Monday by the deputy PM who said the pair would meet in October.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak stated that Mr Zuckerberg would arrive in Thailand on October 30 and meet with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha for talks regarding E-commerce.
As the Deputy Prime Minister was unavailable for comment it appears there has been some crossed wires somewhere between both sides involved.
