Imagine coming home to discover a massive 10 kilogram monitor lizard has taken up residence in your house!
That is exactly what happened in a house in Thalang in Phuket.
Pongpan Juanan of Kusoldharm Foundation and his team were called by the home owner to remove the unwanted visitor, which took over 30 minutes to capture and remove safely.
It was identified as a water monitor by Pongchat Chuapom of the Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Sanctuary before being released back into the wild.
Ponpang advised locals to close all doors and windows during the rainy season to avoid undesirable creatures entering their homes, especially if you live near woodland or water.
It is commonplace for cobras and lizards to depart the forests at this time of year. He advised that you should not, under any circumstances attempt to remove such as creature on your own.
