A disabled man from Phuket with the help of his son is heading to Bangkok via wheelchair to attend the cremation of his late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej set to take place on October 26.
Sompong Juiplub, 49, is a representative of Phuket’s disabled people and his 15-year-old son, Thanawut Juiplub will be cycling alongside his father assisting him on his trip.
The duo left Phuket for Bangkok yesterday estimating that their journey would take them 20 days to reach the capital.
They said that they wanted to show their respect and gratitude for his late Majesty by carrying out the long journey.
The Welfare Phuket Office is liaising with the Department of Social Development to provide the father and son with accommodation during their travels.
We hope there trip goes well and they arrive safely and on time for his late Majesty’s funeral.
