Over five-thousand nurses could go on strike if they are not employed on a permanent basis
It is believed that there are over fifteen-thousand nurses working under a temporary contract. They are furious with the government because this does not allow them to receive any civil service benefits, aswell as being on low wage.
A proposal was made to the cabinet to increase the total amount of civil service positions by ten-thousand, the cabinet rejected this.
Temporary employed nurses have turned to social media to help with their problem. Profile pictures of nurses will be changed with a message to say they will quit if the government does not register them as civil servants.
It is estimated that three-thousand to four-thousand new qualified nurses are seeking jobs every year, but there are less than one-thousand jobs available in the system.
