Three Thai ladies who were wanted in connection with the high profile “karaoke murder” have confessed to the killing.
However, one of the accused Preeyanuch “Preaw” Nonwangchai, claimed she had no intention of murdering the girl.
The slaying of 22-year-old Warisara Klinjui was allegedly linked to organised drug rings but police now say she was killed over an unpaid debt.
Kawita “Earn” Ratchada, 25, and Apiwan “Jae” Sattayabundit, 28, along with 24-year-old Nonwangchai are being held in custody awaiting trial.
The three girls fled Thailand into Myanmar after they committed the murder, cut her in two before concealing her remains in bin bags on farmland in Khon Kaen last month.
Two other suspects are already in custody in connection with the offence. They are Wasin Namprom, 25, and his girlfriend Jidarat Promkhun, 21.
Nonwangchai claims to have strangled the girl in a car following an argument. She said she met the victim by chance and had not seen her for over a year. She asked her to get into the vehicle to discuss a 40,000 baht debt. But she lost her temper and killed her. She said “I only intended to teach her a lesson”.
It is unclear how or why the other four suspects became involved at this time.
The victim’s 67-year-old grandmother said “the crime was cruel and inhumane and the punishment should fit the crime.”
The killer’s mother said “I am relieved my daughter is alive but she will pay for what what she has done. I hope she can be forgiven.”
