Flood Warnings Issued For North Of Thailand

The north and eastern regions have have been issued warnings that flooding could be a possibility as heavy rains are predicted.

Wang Romklao Dam has been instructed to open its floodgates to release water into the Chao Phraya River in preparation for the heavy rains.

Authorities will try to retain as much of the water as possible in anticipation of the dry season ahead but heavy rains will ultimately mean the release of water, which may cause flooding when added to the precipitation across the regions.

The alerts are expected to remain in place until June 17th.

Homes have already been damaged in Chiang Rai as storms battered the region.
