It seems there’s no stopping Thailand’s booming tourism industry after it was reported that revenue from foreign tourism generated nearly 200 billion baht in the first month of 2018 alone.
According to figures a little over 3.54 million foreign tourists arrived in Thailand during January which was an increase of 10.8 percent on the same period in 2017.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports said of the 3.54 million arrivals 2.14 million were form East Asia, 900,000 from Europe and 811,000 from the United States of America, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Tourist arrivals from South Asia increased by 20.65 percent compared to the same period in 2017.
It was stated that a total of 188.89 billion baht was generated from the arriving tourists in January which was an increase of 11.59 percent year-on-year.
It was also announced that domestic tourists generated a total of 956.75 billion baht which was an increase of 8.38 percent on the same period from 2017.
2017 as a whole generated 2.78 trillion baht from the tourism industry an increase of 10.51 percent compared to 2016.
