Police are keen to track down a foreign woman, who was photographed sitting on a ledge at a popular tourist attraction, despite there being warnings not to do so.
The incident happened at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha at Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok on Sunday, with officials taking a dim view of her antics.
A top official, Surachet Hakpal, was seen on Channel 7 News, where he was keen to trace the lady in question. If found, she and her male friend could be forced to pay a 10,000 baht fine, spend a month in jail or both.
A spokesman stated that the tour guide must take some responsibility for the lady’s actions, for they should have issued warnings to the tourists concerning what is appropriate behaviour at such venues and of course what is unacceptable.
The Thai media often refer to Surachet as “Big Joke” who is never far away from the headlines. He has been seen busting call scammers in Dubai, criminals from all over Thailand, visitors who have overstayed their visas and now the lady in the photo flashing her thighs at the Temple.
Police believe the couple are still in the country and are confident they will locate them.
