Thailand’s Meteorological Department has issued a grim warning that summer storms, will soon hit most of the Kingdom between April 15-18.
Only the southern areas look likely to escape the expected heavy rainfall.
The announcement is not one that Songkran revellers will welcome as the weather forecast could mean chaos and hardship to many people, typically if you live in the North East of Thailand. It is expected that thunderstorms will lambast these areas as heavy rain and lightning are predicted.
In some areas, there may even be hail storms.
The rains will reach Bangkok around the 16th of April as the electrical storms head south, which will be accompanied by strong winds.
This bad weather is moving in from China and could spoil some of the Songkran celebrations as flooding is expecting in many places.
