Foreigner saves drowning Thai man

A Chiang Mai teenager faced certain death when his car plunged into the murky waters of a canal last night.

But the bravery of an elderly foreigner came to his rescue, when he himself entered the canal to pull the boy from the sinking vehicle.

James Grand, 61, was said to be riding past on a motorbike when he spotted the car in the water. He dived into the canal without hesitation and saved the lad from drowning.

The teenaged was taken to hospital from treatment.
