High speed train project proposed for the West of Thailand

A meeting between the Thai Cabinet is scheduled for tomorrow (March 6) during which Weerasak Kowsurat the Tourism and Sports Minister is reportedly going to propose a new high-speed train project involving the West of the kingdom.

Several high-speed train projects are already in the works linking the nation’s capital to the North and to the East under recent plans to expand Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor.

Weerasak said today that the new train project would play a vital role in the government’s plans to further develop tourism to the West of the kingdom in places such as Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Ranong.

Providing that the Cabinet gives the proposed project the green light a high-speed rail line would link Bangkok with Hua Hin.
