A Myanmar worker who accidentally dropped his cash at an ATM machine, was reunited with his lost money, thanks to the honesty of five teenagers, two boys and three girls.
The cash, thought to be in the region of 41,000 baht was discovered by the teens at the ATM machine of the Siam City Bank’s Muang district branch in Chachoengsao province.
The honest quintet did not hesitate in calling the police. They waited at the ATM until the officers arrived, before handing over the cash.
Kornwit Promtakai, 18, who was visiting the town from his home in Khon Kaen told police he and his friends were passing the ATM when they spotted the money on the ground.
Thirty minutes after the cash was discovered, Min Nyi Naing, 32, of Myanmar, returned looking for his lost money, where he met an officer who was waiting, in the hope that the owner returned.
Min told the officer he too was visiting the town and that he worked in Bangkok. He said he must have accidentally dropped the wad of notes, believing they were safely in his wallet.
He couldn’t produce the ATM receipt but he did provide evidence that it was indeed his money via an SMS text he received from the bank.
It is unclear if any reward was paid to the teenagers for their honesty.
