Hot Weather Could Mean Rise In Electricity Costs

As the temperatures in Thailand continue to rise, energy usage has also soared to new highs for the year so far.

The spike in electricity being used around the country is because of people switching on air conditioning systems for long periods of time, in an attempt to maintain cool temperatures.

However the cost of producing the additional power, could see the rise being passed onto customers.

According to the Energy Generating Authority of Thailand, energy consumption peaked at 30,303 MV but should that figure rise to 32,059 MW, emergency generators would have to be brought into play, forcing the cost of production up.

Let’s hope for cooler weather but not too cool.

Pattaya today is mild and cloudy, after the overnight rain, so no need for air conditioning for most of us.
