Importers of luxury vehicles who falsely declare them as “spare parts” to avoid import taxes are likely to find themselves in hot water with the authorities.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is cracking down on a loophole that allows importers to bring in valuable vehicles as “spare parts” but actually sell them as working vehicles, often changing licence plates to avoid detection.
It is claimed that over 7000 cars that were examined by the DSI, revealed hundreds that were incorrectly declared as being for spares.
