The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Royal Thai Police not to hold water celebrations for Songkran in the area of Khaosan Road in Bangkok.
Piyabutr Jiwaramonaikul the Khaosan Road Business Association president said “no celebration activities will be held this year on Khaosan Road as it would inconvenience the people coming to pay homage to their beloved King.”
Songkran is usually held between April 13th and 15th annually.
The 410 metre street, which translates to “Milled Rice” was once a popular rice market. However over the last few decades, it has become an area famed for its cheap accommodation and is popular with backpackers and tourists.
