The license plate auction held at the Phuket Rajabhat University over the weekend has reportedly raised 21,747,998 baht auctioning off a total of 301 car license plates with the Thai letters “KorWor.”
The license plate that went for the most money was KorWor 9999 which went for 999,999 baht.
Plates KorWor 8888 and KorWor 1111 also went for some fairly substantial money selling for 650,000 baht and 500,000 baht respectively.
This was now the 14th auction of “special” license plates with all the auctions raising a combined total of 238,495,500 baht for the kingdoms Road Safety Fund.
Present at the auction on Saturday the deputy director of the Land Transport Department general Kamol Buranapong said “road accidents cause loss of life and property damage which in turn damages the country’s economy and society.”
The LTD is one of many agencies tasked with reducing the number of road accidents here in Thailand and the deputy director said by holding the auctions it helps to raise funds for safety campaigns and other such measures.
