People in Phitsanulok are asking for donations to buy life-jackets for children who will now have to travel to school via boat as a result of recent flooding.
Officials have said that flooding caused by the Yom River is slowly subsiding there are still five schools in Bang Rakham heavily inundated by waters.
The head of the local teachers association announced today (October 30) that children will have to travel to and from school by boat.
The kids will return to schools on Wednesday at affected Wat Phromkesorn, wat Nongkhanag and Ban Nong Phangphouy and to Wang Ithok, Bang Krung Krak schools next week.
Reports state that flooding at some of the schools is up to 1 meter deep.
