Foreign vehicles stolen in Europe are finding their way into Thailand according to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and Customs Department.
The DSI also claim to have evidence that as many as 1000 luxury vehicles are subject to investigation having been falsely declared to avoid tax.
The department are urging people who purchased luxury vehicles to submit them for inspection. Those who fail to comply would not be able to renew their registrations with the Land Transport Department at the next time of asking.
The DSI have serial numbers of cars stolen in the UK but are currently in Thailand. So far 42 vehicles have been retrieved as stolen and transported to the Kingdom.
If you have recently purchased a luxury vehicle from a dealer, the advice is simple – have it checked out.
