Police officers in Ubon Ratchathani, in the east of Thailand, collected 500 baht and gave it to a man, so he could go home to visit his mother.
But the penniless man, did not go home. Instead, he returned to their small business and murdered his wife, stabbing her at least ten times.
Cops were initially called to a disturbance at a food vendor, which sits at the roadside where the found Kathin Kasa, 38, and Warunee Meuangjan, 51 involved in a heated argument.
The officers managed to quieten the pair down. As discussions took place, the man decided he would go and visit his family to let the situation calm down further. He requested the bus fare from his wife but she refused to provide him with the cash, so the police clubbed together to help him. They even took him to the bus stop, so that there was distance between him and his wife.
But for someone unknown reason, he travelled five kilometres in the minibus, got off, and returned to the food stall. Another argument ensued before he grabbed a kitchen knife, plunging it into her stomach numerous times, leaving her for dead.
He was last seen fleeing in the direction of a wooded area behind a Tesco Lotus shop. So far searches have been in vain as the hunt for the killer continues.
