Now this is nuts, coconuts that is!
An elderly woman in southern Chumphon province has turned to the media for assistance after a man claimed to be an acquaintance and used his pet monkey to collect 150 coconuts from her farm before scarpering with his haul.
Noi Sombatpibun, 86, spoke with Channel 3 yesterday to tell her tail.
She said the unidentified alleged thief and his monkey accomplice turned up at her farm Sunday claiming to be a relation of her friend Arkom saying he wanted to buy some coconuts.
His pet monkey named “Nadech” then climbed her tress and collected 150 coconuts, which were valued at around 2,000 baht (£45.)
Noi said before she knew what had happened the man and the monkey sped off in his Isuzu pick-up truck and never returned.
Noi’s daughter visited Arkom who the man alleged to be related to but Arkom claimed to not know the alleged coconut thief or his monkey accomplice.
While speaking to the reporters the elderly woman asked for the man to return and pay for the coconuts.
No police report has been filed as yet, hoping that media attention might make the man return and pay for his coconuts.
