Government Want Closer Relationship With Media

The government want to see Thailand’s media helping to bring the people and the government closer together, working in unison for the betterment of the nation.

They also wish to see the media “reform” itself according to National Reform Steering Assembly Vice Chairman Alongkorn Ponlaboot. He passed comment on the matter saying “The media should adhere to the fundamental principles in any democratic set-up including press freedom and non-partisanship to help ensure reconciliation in society.

” However, the Thai Journalists Association did not accept the invitation to develop this method of working as they claim it infringes of press freedom.

The media of course should be able to report the news as it is, without restriction providing it is truthful and not fabricated in any way.
