The Ministry of Labour is going to hold a public meeting over a proposal to review the rules and regulations about the 39 occupations that are currently reserved for Thai nationals only.
Waranont Pitiwan, the director of the Department of Employment stated that many Thai nationals are no longer interested in these professions so foreigners should be allowed to do them.
This list of jobs currently reserved includes some construction workers, waiters, cashiers as well as carpenters.
The meeting is scheduled to be held next week and representatives from the effected professions will be invited as well as the Board of Trade to give their opinions on the suggestion that foreigners should be allowed to do the occupations legally.
