It’s National Elephant Day here in Thailand today with many elephant camps and zoos across the kingdom holding special celebrations and events to mark the occasion and promote elephant protection.
A number of elephant parks also held Buddhist ceremonies where their animals were cleaned and showered before monks bestowed blessings to cleanse the animals and the parks of bad luck.
To celebrate the day the large pachyderms were presented with fruits and sugar cane with many tourists traveling to parks to take part in the celebrations.
